What is an AI agent?
An AI agent goes a step beyond a chatbot. Instead of just answering a question, it can plan, make decisions, use tools and complete multi-step tasks with little human oversight — a digital team member that reasons through a problem and takes action on its own.
In practice, an agent can resolve a support ticket end to end, reconcile invoices, pull data from a live API, or run research and return a structured result.
Why it matters for Irish business
AI adoption in Ireland is now near-universal. Trinity College Dublin and Microsoft Ireland found 92% of organisations are using or planning to use AI, while AI Ireland reports 74% of businesses have moved past experimentation into active use.
The payoff is real: a typical mid-sized Irish organisation frees up around 1,000 hours a month through everyday AI use. And AI is forecast to add at least €250 billion to the Irish economy over the next decade.

What you’ll learn
Over six weeks you’ll cover foundations and prompting, tool calling, RAG memory, agent frameworks, live API integrations, testing and evaluation, and secure deployment. The course is 50% theory, 50% practical, and you’ll finish with a portfolio-ready AI agent of your own.
Graduates are prepared for roles including AI Agent Developer, AI Application Developer, Junior AI Engineer and AI Automation Developer.
